Richard H. Anderson

Richard H. Anderson is an Outside Director on Bridgewater’s Operating Board of Directors. He served on the Internal Board from October 2018 to May 2021, before returning in July 2022.
Richard is the former Chief Executive Officer of AMTRAK where he served as volunteer CEO from 2017 to 2020. Prior to AMTRAK, Richard spent 25 years in the aviation industry, where the last position he held was that of Executive Chairman of the Delta Air Lines Board of Directors after serving as the airline’s Chief Executive Officer from 2007 to 2016. Prior to joining Delta, Richard was President of UnitedHealth Group Commercial Markets. He also served as Chief Operating Officer of Northwest Airlines, Inc. from 1998 to 2001 and from 2001 to 2004, as Chief Executive Officer. Richard also serves as a director of Cargill, Inc., Norfolk Southern Railroad and Catholic Relief Services. Richard has served on the Boards of Xcel Energy, Medtronic Inc., Securian Financials, Northwest Airlines, Mesaba Airlines, IHG Hotels, and the Federal Reserve of Atlanta.
A native of Galveston, Texas, Anderson holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston at Clear Lake City and a Juris Doctor degree from South Texas College of Law. Prior to corporate positions, Richard was a criminal prosecutor for the State of Texas in Houston. He and his wife, Susan, live in Wayzata, MN.
