Rick Sharma joined Bridgewater in 2012 and as Chief Legal Advisor at Bridgewater Associates, he is responsible for our investment management legal group within the Legal and Regulatory Department. In his role, he partners with internal clients on enabling key commercial and strategic initiatives. Rick also serves as the Deputy Operating Chair of Bridgewater’s Partnership.

Rick is an industry veteran who, prior to joining Bridgewater in 2012, served on the Management Committee of Plural Investments, LLC, and as the Director of Legal and Compliance at Drake Management, LLC. Prior to that, he was an attorney at the law firm of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, a Special Assistant US Attorney for the US Department of Justice and a member of the US Army’s Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps.

Rick graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1995 with degrees in Economics and Political Science and from Fordham University School of Law in 1998. He is a former Army officer and paratrooper. During his military service Rick was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and the New York State Conspicuous Service Cross, among other recognitions. He currently serves in committee leadership roles at the Managed Funds Association and is the Chair of the Board of Directors of ReadyCT, a leading non-profit focused on education and workforce development in Connecticut. Rick was recognized by the Financial Times in 2024 on their list of top global In-House Legal Leaders.
