Bridgewater’s Joanna Alpert (left) and Tobi Molko (right) join a list of women leading the industry in the Hedge Fund Journal’s tenth annual report.
Joanna Alpert is General Manager and Portfolio Manager for Bridgewater China Investment Management Co. (BCIM), with responsibilities over its strategy and operations as well as research, account management, and trading. She was instrumental in launching BCIM’s first onshore China investment product in 2018 and continues her responsibility managing the firm’s three funds for qualified individual and institutional investors in China.
Joanna also serves as a Bridgewater Partner, a group of core leaders selected by their peers based on contributions and a demonstrated ethos and commitment. Additionally, Joanna is a member of the firm’s Asian Affinity Network leadership team.
Head of Trading Execution Tobi Molko joined Bridgewater in 2019, after a 20+ year career in the Equity Derivative space. She is responsible for managing and overseeing the team that handles trading for the firm across all markets and regions. Tobi has led trading execution through complex markets and the unique management challenges of COVID, which required humility, flexibility, and steady leadership. In addition to executing all of Bridgewater’s exposures, Tobi and her team are responsible for consistently evolving our trading strategies and capabilities.
Tobi is a member of Bridgewater’s Women’s Influence Network and has been a leader in similar organizations throughout her career, where she has focused on mentoring, developing, and promoting women in the industry.

Joanna and Tobi join Bridgewater colleagues who have shared this honor in past years including Karen Karniol-Tambour, Helene Glotzer, Erin Miles, j, Sarah Mulholland, and Robyn Shepherd.
